Individual Skills Training

Meditate. Learn. Grow.

“Mindfulness-Based skills for navigating life’s challenges.”

At Choose Well-Being Psychology Education, mindfulness is at the heart of the services we offer. We believe that mindfulness is essential to living in a fast paced, media-driven world. Our mindfulness programs offer you a concrete set of skills to improve your life.

Mindfulness has been researched for over 25 years and is a proven cognitive and experiential approach. Mindfulness has been found to help with both chronic and everyday problems. Where you are at. Right now. In this moment.

Mindfulness helps us in being better able “pause” and choose what we say and do. Our skills programs include Mindfulness, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Radically Open DBT and Standard DBT to cope with life’s challenges.

Mindfulness will help you:

*Develop awareness of yourself, others and the world

*Increase responding vs reacting in challenging moments

*”Pause” and choose what you say and do

*Live in the present, and less in the past and future

*Reduce anxiety, depression, increase focus and experience more joy

Our intention is to build a mindful clinic and community through mindfulness-based psychology education.

We offer research-based, mindfulness services to children, adults and organizations. Each of our classes, retreats and workshops include mindfulness as the core skill. They are offered as a class series, half and full day retreats, and 3 hour workshops.

Choose well-being is based on:

Choosing=”We cannot often choose what happens to us in life, but we can choose how to respond it.”

Well-Being=”A state of being healthy, happy and prosperous”

Mindfulness=”Awareness is often the first step in making changes”

We acknowledge it is in investment in your mental health in the short-term to learn new skills and practice different ways of feeling, thinking, acting and being. However, it can be truly worthwhile in the long-term. As you learn, practice and integrate these skills, you will start noticing the skills occur naturally and will begin experiencing the benefits first-hand. Becoming the person you always knew you were capable of being.

The mindfulness training programs we offer are psychology-based and relevant to you on personal, community and world-wide level. We hold ourselves to a high level of quality in the mindfulness-based psychology education services we provide to help you meet your goals.

Cultivate a mindful life for yourself and future generations to come.

What Does the Research Say?

Mindfulness became secularized back in 1978 by Jon Kabat-Zinn in a medical model. Mindfulness has been found to be helpful with anxiety, depression and attentional problems. It increases neuroplasticity (brain flexibility), calms the amygdala (emotion center in the brain) and effectively improves executive functioning (i.e. working memory, attentional control, inhibitory control, problem-solving, and task execution and planning). It has also been found helpful in treating the mind-body connection in stress-related medical conditions.

Mindfulness for children and adolescents definition: “Approaching the world with a kindness and curiosity, moment-to-moment” (Amy Saltzman).

Mindfulness for adults definition: “Being aware, present and non-judgmental” (Jon Kabat-Zinn).

“Developing our inner resources”

Awareness of our emotions, thoughts and actions can help us “pause” and choose what we say and do.

“Our fast-paced world”

Mindfulness skills are invaluable in our fast-paced, media driven world where distractions, being “busy”, stressed and a pressure to succeed is the norm. It is key to being “effective” moment-to-moment and helps us to be more intentional, focused and balanced so we can take better care of ourselves, experience a sense of ease in living and move courageously toward our goals. These skills can help you develop the inner resources needed for you to be resilient and effective in an ever-changing world.

PEACE – It does not mean to be in a world where there is no noise or chaos, it means to be in the midst of these things and still find peace in your heart.
