Mindful School

Do you want to have a mindful school? Would you like to have the skills to help your school in facing challenges with social situations, emotions, transitions, tests and focusing? Do you feel overwhelmed or stressed at school?

The Mindful School program will help you increase the quality of your school experience, define mindfulness, engage in mindfulness practices and address how to respond versus react in challenging school situations. Mindfulness has been shown to improve effectiveness, reduce anxiety, increase attention and to find more joy in the present for teachers, students and staff. The intention is to learn research-based mindfulness skills to help your school make wise decisions in everyday school life.

Learning Objectives:

*Mindfulness definition and relevance to quality schools
*Increase awareness of emotions, actions, thoughts and the world
*Clarify the difference between reacting vs. responding
*Learn about the 3 states of mind, the brain and executive functioning
*Learn the 6 “what” and “how” skills of mindfulness
*Address challenging school situations with transitions, tests, social, focus
*Practice mindfulness activities to integrate daily for effectiveness at school

Kids at School

Additional Services: Mindful school consultation includes: assessment, observation and recommendations specific to your school culture and needs. Mindful school presentation:1 hour to staff. Mindful classroom: 1 hour includes handouts, 6 mindfulness skills, classroom practices. Daily 15 minute mindfulness practices for schools provided.

Dates: Based on availability and scheduling. Online, onsite or daily practices.

Rates: The hourly rates for a Mindful school consultation, Mindful school presentation, Mindful classroom and daily mindfulness practices billed at $195 per hour or can train current counseling staff/psychologist to implement.

About: Erin Driskill, LCSW is a Social worker that has over 15 years experience in Mindfulness and has worked in school (ESD 112), a private school, one-on-one with teachers, and has presented at schools. Her father while growing up was a principle and she was a teaching assistant. She has extensive training and clinical experience with children and adults. She values mindfulness personally and professionally. She has 2 boys, is the founder and director at Choose Well-Being Psychology Education and lives in SW Portland.
